  OUR FELLOWS IN BELGIUM
 

Tomasz  Jaworski (Poland). Supervised by Prof.Dr. Fred van Leuven and Dr. Ilse Dewachter started in June 2006 at the KUL in Belgium and is working on "Glycogen synthase kinase-3 in Alzheimer's disease: analysis in transgenic and adeno-viral models i vivo".

 

Aneta Glejzer (Poland). Supervised by Dr. Pierre LePrince. Aneta started in September 2006 at the ULG in Belgium and is working on "Characterization of the phenotypical variability and the function of neural stem and progenitor cells:  identification of new membrane markers"

 

Sahina Sahebali (The Netherlands). Supervised by Prof. dr. Jean-Michel Rigo. Sahina started in September 2006 at the University of Hasselt and is working on "Inhibitory neurotransmitters as communication signals between the nervous and the immune systems".

 

Sabrina Schäfer (Germany). Supervised by Prof.Dr. Emmanuel Hermans. Sabrina started in Ocotber 2007 at the UCL in Belgium and is working on "Potential therapeutic benefit provided by mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases"

 

Olga Reneerkens (The Netherlands). Supervised by Dr. Thomas Steckler. Olga started in February 2009 at Johnson & Johnson PRD Research & Early Development Europe, Psychiatry, Beerse and is working on “The role of PDE2 and PDE10 in cognitive and affective processes”.

 
  OUR FELLOWS IN GERMANY
 

Sabien van Neerven (The Netherlands). Supervised by Dr. J. Mey, started in November 2006 at the RWTH Aachen in Germany. She is working on the "The role of retinoic acid after spinal cord injury".

 

Julia Bockelmann (Romania). Supervised by Dr. J. Mey. Julia started in September 2008 at the RWTH Aachen in Germany. She is working on the “Activation of glial cell signaling by biocompatible scaffold for nerve regeneration”. 

  Sonia Tosheva ( Bulgaria). Supervised by Prof. Dr. J. Walter. Sonia started in December 2008 at the University of Bonn. She is working on “ Molecular mechanisms in the clearance of the amyloid β-peptide by microglia”. 
 

Tim Vanmierlo (Belgium), supervised by Dr. M.Mulder and Dr. D. Lütjohann, started in October 2006 at the University Maastricht in a combined fellowship with University Bonn, Germany. He is working on "Modulation of the progression of Alzheimer's disease by environmental and genetic determinants of brain cholesterol metabolism, using a unique Alzheimer-mouse model"  

   
  OUR FELLOWS IN THE NETHERLANDS
  Chiara Mencarelli (Italy). Supervised by Dr. Piluca Martinez, Dr. Mario Losen and Prof. Dr. Marc De Baets. Chiara started in May 2008 at Maastricht University, The Netherlands and is working on “ The role of ceramide transporter protein CERT in neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases”.
 

Alejandro Gomez (Argentina). Supervised by Dr. Mario Losen, Dr. Piluca Martinez and Prof. Dr. Marc De Baets. Alejandro started in August 2008 at  Maastricht University, The Netherlands and is working on “Analysis of Repair Mechanisms at the Neuromuscular Junction”.

 

Marisela Martinez-Claros (Mexico). Supervised by Dr. Jos Prickaerts and Prof. Dr. Harry Steinbusch. Marisela started in Sept. 2008 at Maastricht University, The Netherlands and is working on “Role of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in hippocampal synaptic plasticity in relation to stress-cognition interaction".

  Ali Jahanshahi (Iran). Supervised by Dr. Lee Wei Lim, Yasin Temel and Prof. Dr. Harry Steinbusch. Ali started in December 2008 at Maastricht University, The Netherlands and is working on “Investigating the effect of deep brain stimulation on neuro-regeneration in animal models of neuro degenerative disorders: the role of serotonergic innervation of subependymal zone”.
